This article focused on the rise in complicated appendicitis that occurred throughout this past year during the COVID-19 Pandemic. It theorized that the reason for the increase in complicated appendicits is because of the stay at home order. More people were less likely to choose to go to the emergency room due to abdominal pain because of their fear to contract COVID. This was really interesting to me because I saw a girl who presented with suspected appendicitis and when the providers told her and her parents to go to the emergency room they were very hesitant to go because of COVID.
